• 36: Scoreheads Presents - From The Archives - Doyle W. Donehoo on the Music of 'Aliens: Dark Descent'
    Sep 7 2024
Presenting to you the next in our series of ‘From The Archives’ episodes where we revisit an interview with a Composer that was perhaps previously only heard via the medium of Radio and not yet available online or presented on another platform in another format in a shorter form or just to revisit to celebrate an anniversary or special occasion.

In the case of this episode it’s all of the above as we celebrate the anniversary of the brilliant turn based video game based on the phenomenal ‘Alien’ franchise - ‘Aliens: Dark Descent’, the flurry of love for the superb DLC for the game in recent months, as well as the surge of ‘Alien’ mania that’s been going on recently with both the launch of ‘Alien: Romulus’ in cinemas and the announcement of ‘Alien: Earth’ on streaming this year.

With all of that in mind, then who better to revisit for this classic episode from just over a year ago than one of the biggest, if not THE biggest fan of ‘Alien’ scores there is - Mr Doyle W. Donehoo, a Composer who himself got to live a lifelong dream of composing for the franchise with his superb score for ‘Aliens: Dark Descent’.

No stranger to scoring for games - Doyle’s now infamous work in the 'Warhammer' universe has seen him write music for huge titles such as 'Warhammer 40, 000 Dawn Of War II', 'Dawn Of War II - Chaos Rising', 'Dawn Of War II - Retribution', 'Space Hulk: Deathwing', ‘Sniper: Path Of Vengeance’, ‘Sniper: Ghost Warrior’ and many, many more.

Last year, Doyle joined Sean Wilson and Jon Brown to discuss his life, his work, his passion for science fiction, his love of music for the ‘Alien’ and ‘Star Wars’ films and much more.

So please sit back and do enjoy this chat now for the first time ever to be released anywhere in it’s full, uncut, expanded glory as we revisit, at the height of ‘Alien’ fever - the music of the game ‘Aliens: Dark Descent’.
