• HS FB - Ontario vs Perkins Regional Final, Nov 22nd, 2024

    The Ontario Warriors historic season came to an end on Friday in Tiffin, as the Warriors fell to Sandusky Perkins, 28-21, at Frost-Kalnow Stadium. Perkins scored the go-ahead TD with just :39 seconds left in the game to advance to play Glenville in the state semi-finals next week. Ontario fell behind 14-0, after a fumble and a short punt, which the Pirates short TD runs of 5 and 10 yards from senior running back, Isaac Bunts, who had all 4 TD's for Perkins. Ontario would not go away, and answered with a TD run by Bodpegn Miller late in the 1st Q to cut the lead to 14-7. The 2nd quarter was scoreless, and 14-7 was the halftime score on a cold, windy and rainy night. Perkins scored early in the 3rd quarter to take a 21-7 lead, but again - the Warriors would answer big time! Ontario got a 1 yard TD run from Miller 4 seconds into the 4th Q, but the PAT was blocked. Ontario then recovered an onside kick by freshman Kooper Kilgore, and remember that name, as Kilgore had a huge 2nd half running the football for the Warriors, as he leaped a defender, and darted into the end zone from 18 yards out to pull Ontario with 2 points. Bodpegn pushed his way into the end zone for the 2 point conversion to tie the game at 21-21 with 8:45 to play. However, Perkins got the ball back and scored the game winning TD with :39 seconds left on a 8 yard run by Bunts, who finished with 200 yards rushing and all 4 Perkins TD's. Ontario ends the great season in school history at 12-2. Bodpegn Miller (3,577) is now the schools all-time career rushing leader, as he passed Jordan Campbell's mark of 3,556. Kilgore led Ontario in rushing with 73 yards, Miller added 2 TD's and 46 yards rushing. Mason Vantilburg added 51 yards on the ground. *Game aired live on WMAN with Aaron Hines and Erik Will

  • HS FB 24 - Week 13 - Ontario vs Shelby (Nov 15th)

    The Ontario Warriors are headed to play for a Regional Championship for the 1st time in school history, after they beat Shelby, 49-48, in one of the most epic playoff games ever played in Richland County. Ontario trailed by 22 points after 3 quarters of play, and went on to outscore Shelby 23-0 in the 4th quarter to win the Regional Semi-Final at Arlin Field. The crowd was estimated by RichlandSource.com to be over 8,000 people. Bodpegn Miller scored 5 TD's, including the game winner with :12 seconds to play in the game, and totaled 503 yards on the night. Miller rushed for 209 yards, and 2 TD's, while throwing for 294 and 3 more scores. Warriors running back Mason Vantilburg went over 1,000 yards on the year, as he rushed for 130 yards and a TD. Landon Sowards, who is just a tackling machine at linebacker for Ontario, had the games biggest play with 1:52 to play in the 4th, and the Warriors down 48-40, when he tackled Brayden Devito of Shelby in the end zone for safety. Ontario got the ball back, then drove down for the game winning score, which included freshman kicker, Kooper Kilgore, connecting on the game winning extra point. Shelby QB Brayden Devito was incredible once again, as he scored 6 TD's and 439 yards of offense. DeVito ends an amazing year with 61 TD's and over 5,000 total yards. Ontario (12-1) now plays Sandusky Perkins (12-1) in the Regional Final on Friday, November 22nd.

  • WMAN HS FB Week 12 2024 - Shelby vs Ottawa-Glandorf (Playoffs - Nov 8th, 2024)

    The Shelby Whippets improved to 12-0 on Friday, after beating Ottawa-Glandorf, 26-14, in the Division IV Regional Quarterfinal at the Whippet Athletic Complex. Shelby fell behind early and trailed 7-6 at halftime. The Whippets outscored the Titans 20-7 in the 2nd half, as Shelby QB Brayden DeVito had a hand in all 3 of the Whippets TD's, which were all big plays. DeVito threw two TD passes, a 66 yard play to Avery Lambert, and a 69 yard strike to Brady Bowman. Brayden sealed the deal, after a huge interception by Brock Fisher as OG was driving into Shelby territory at the 17 yard line, as DeVito darted 76 yards to the end zone to push the Whippets into the regional semi-final on Friday. DeVito had just shy of 400 total yards, and now for the season has accounted for 55 TD's and over 4,700 total yards.   • HS FB 24 - Week 11 Playoffs -Clear Fork at Ontario (Nov 1st)

    The Ontario Warriors beat Clear Fork 24-2 in a Division IV (Region 14) 1st round playoff game on Friday. Ontario scored 3 rushing TDs, two by Mason Vantilburg, and the other by Bodpegn Miller. Also, freshman Kooper Kilgore booted a 33 yard FG in the 3rd quarter to account for the Warriors points. Clear Fork recorded a safety in the 2nd quarter for their only points of the evening. The Colts moved the ball, but penalties and turnovers, along with some great defense from Ontario, kept the Colts out of the end zone. The play of the night came, with the Warriors up 10-2, in the 2nd half when defensive lineman Trenton Maglott blocked a punt and moments later Bodpegn Miller scored from 1 yard out. Ontario less than a minute later got an interception from Landon Fultz, then Mason Vantilburg darted for a 20 yard TD to give Ontario a big lead. Ontario (10-1) will now host Clyde (8-3) on Friday, November 8th in the Regional quarterfinals in Division IV. *Aaron Hines and Erik Will on the broadcast for WMAN*

  • HS FB 24 - Week 10 - Lexington at Ashland (Oct 25th)

    The Ashland Arrows claimed the outright Ohio Cardinal Conference Championship on Friday, as the beat Lexington, 30-21, at Community Stadium. Ashland finishes the regular season 10-0 for only the 2nd time in school history. The only other 10-0 year was 2006. The Arrows are the outright OCC champs for the first time since 2011. Defense was the story for Ashland, who had 2 interceptions returned for touchdowns in the win. Tyler Sauder took one back nearly 70 yards in the 1st half, while Michael Franz, helped Ashland stay perfect on the year, as his 65 yard pick 6 with 7:54 to go in the game - sealed the win. Lexington moved the football well on offense all night, as Markale Martin had 2 rushing TDs, while Brayden Fogle caught a TD and a 2 point conversion. The Minutemen had 4 turnovers on the night, two of them went for TDs by Ashland's defense. Ashland finishes the regular season 10-0 and will host a first round playoff game. Lexington (5-5) looks likely to reach the postseason and would be on the road. The brackets will officially be released on Sunday.   • HS FB 24 - Week 8 - Shelby at Clear Fork (Oct 11th)

    The Shelby Whippets scored 27 unanswered points on Friday to improve to 8-0 with a 34-7 win at Clear Fork. Shelby scored :15 seconds into the game to take a 7-0 lead, after Brayden Devito hit WR Kaden Price on a 66 yard TD pass play. The game remained 7-0 until the 3 minute mark of the 3rd quarter, when Colts QB Marcus Hoeflich completed a touchdown pass to WR Jay Jackson from 59 yards out to tied the game, 7-7. The Whippets answered right back, as Devito hit tight end, Michael Shepherd on a 46 yard TD pass play, then a 63 yard TD throw to Price, which was his 2nd of the night. Running back Marcus Gumbert had a touchdown run from 8 yards out, and Devito threw his 4th TD pass of the night to tight end Sam Gwirtz, who hauled it in from 2 yards out. Brayden Devito racked up well over 400 yards of offense and Shelby as a team had around 600 yards of offense. Clear Fork ran the football very well, but had two turnovers and some penalties that stalled some of their drives. Shelby moves to 8-0 and 5-0 in the MOAC.   • HS FB 24 - Week 7 - Mansfield Senior at Ashland (Oct 4th)

    The Ashland Arrows improved to 7-0 on the season on Friday, as they beat Mansfield Senior, 35-3, at Community Stadium. Arrows QB, Nathan Bernhard, accounted for all 5 Ashland scores, as he threw for 3 and ran for two more TDs. Bernhard on the night, ran for 214 yards on 14 carries, which included a season long 88 yard TD run in the 1st quarter to give the Arrows the lead for good. Mansfield Senior (1-6, 1-3) got an interception from Guy Trader, and his return of more than 50 yards, set them up for a 41 yard field goal by Griffen DeBolt. Bernhard's other TD run was from 54 yards out, while both of his TD passes went to Dakota Kruty from 29 and 31 yards. Ashland's defense was very good, led by Tyler Sauder (6 tackles) and Gunnar Lacey, who added multiple tackles and a sack. The Arrows, now 3-0 in the OCC, travel to West Holmes on Friday night.

  • WMAN HS FB Week 6 2024 - Lexington at Mansfield Senior

    The Lexington Minutemen beat Mansfield Senior on Friday, 19-6, at Arlin Field. The win for Lex was their 1st vs Senior High since 2018, and snaps a 7 game losing streak to the TYgers. Lexington's defense only allow 106 total yards and did not allow a point. Senior High's only score came on a fumble return as the clock was expiring in the 4th quarter. The Minutemen had a big game from Seven Allen, who had 4 catches for 83 yards, which included a 33 yard TD catch in the 2nd quarter. Brayden Fogle had several big catches that helped lead to another Lex TD. QB Joe Caudill threw for 2 TD passes and played a nice game on defense too. Cole Eichorn led the Minutemen in tackles with 7, as Lex (3-3) won their 3rd straight game and moved to 2-0 in the OCC.
