Walking My Way: ULTRALIGHT 2.2KG What I'm Packing For the Camino Santiago
Hello! Here is a guide from someone who has never been on a pilgrimage before but knows a thing or two about ultralight packing. Through the years I have refined and refined again my ultralight packing to the bare essentials of what I need, and I'm very excited to have managed to get this down to 2.2 kg. I will be walking 25 km every day on average so every last gram will make a difference! My biggest tips: - Be a psychopath and weigh everything, you will be surprised at what comes out light and heavy - Anything you think 'I could always buy that in a shop once I'm there if push came to shove,' don't pack it, you will rarely if ever regret this. Do not pack that spare pair of underpants - Multifunctional things / thinking of ways to make something smaller have the same function = gold dust Timestamps: 00:52 Bag 02:14 Shoes 04:40 Weigh Things! 05:18 Coats / Outerwear 06:15 Hiking Clothes 10:00 Towel 11:00 Toiletries 12:35 Glasses Case / Sleeping Essentials 13:28 First Aid / Medicine Cabinet / Microphones 14:40 Tech / Chargers 16:33 My Bag Weighs 2.2 kg !! I'm Ruby, I'm 22 and I live in London. I graduated from Cambridge last year and have been working in TV production since. I'm taking time off work to go on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage across France and Spain (I'm doing the full Camino Frances). I will be walking 800 km as a female solo traveller, completely untrained (in fact with a hip injury). This journey has been a dream of mine since I was 15, when I read The Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho. I wouldn’t say I’m religious, but I do have some sort of relationship with spirituality, which I am hoping to explore on this trip. Stay tuned for an episode for every day of my journey, which I will be walking for over a month. From the practical, emotional, historical and spiritual, to the deep connections (and blisters) I'm expecting to make, you will hear it all. Buen camino!
