  • Encouraging an Early Interest In Learning
    Nov 26 2021

    On today’s show, Mr. B. and I talk about encouraging an early interest in learning skills like reading, writing and math.

    I learned that #1 thing you can do is create a pleasant environment for relaxed learning.

    The use of sounds, smells, delicious drinks, cozy blankets and comfortable clothing are easy ways to create the right atmosphere.

    The power of creating these memories for children is that their mind and body will remember these relaxed atmospheres for learning;

    Then, as subjects get harder, they can draw on these positive memories to help them relax and tap into their love of learning and motivate them to keep going.

    Mr. B. uses examples from his own childhood, parenting life and teaching experiences to speak about what practical strategies work and why, so that you can gift a child with the love of leaning at an early age.

    So grab a warm drink and a cozy blanket as you listen to this episode of the Trifecta Teaching Podcast.

    On today's show, Mr. B. introduces us to the book, "Click", by Ori and Rom Brafman.  We are going to take a deep dive into how this book applies in the classroom, in friendships and at home.

    Be sure to catch the part where Mr. B. talks about similarities and how quantity matters over quality.  Also, his use of the "I wonder" statement has been a game changer for me as a parent and as a co-worker.

  • Mutual Respect
    Nov 5 2021

    On today's show we talk about mutual respect between parents and teachers.  Teachers teach a student for 1 year and parents teach their child for a lifetime.

    You'll hear strategies about how to work together in parent-teacher conferences.  Teachers being straightforward rather than leaving crumbs and clues for parents to figure out on their own.

    We also address parents taking it personally when their child is failing in school.  The pitfalls of positive reinforcement and over-rewarding.  Then, how to recover when you've hit these pitfalls.
