Robert Wise was not happy with the result, and in 2001 a Directors Edition was released, still not complete, a fully restored Blu-Ray 4KUD Director's Edition was released in 2022. PHILO BARNHART was an animator on the original 1979 theatrical version, he talks about the differences and what it's like seeing his work remastered.
