  • Summary

  • In today’s episode, This is How We Do it; we continue the conversation about the Predominantly White Institution (PWI) homecoming experience and why we, PWI alumni) don’t seem to give the same energy that HBCU alums give to their Homecoming.

The truth is that HBCU Homecomings are the measuring stick we use to measure how good or bad our Homecoming is. That’s because most “Blacklidy Black” PWI alumni have attended several HBCU homecomings and experienced Black Excellence at an unmatched level. However, the experience falls short because you are not an alumnus of the university, and that is needed to appreciate Homecoming at that school truly.

PWI alums need to embrace their Homecoming and appreciate the place that nurtured their friendships, relationships, and experiences that molded them into the person they are today.
