    In an event co-sponsored by the Gallatin Human Rights Initiative, The Kevorkian Center for Near Eastern Studies, and the Middle East and Islamic Studies Department on October 15, 2024, Michael Fakhri, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, presented the Report he submitted to the 79th session of the General Assembly prior to the General Assembly convening on this report later that same week.     On Sept 17 Sociologists for Palestine did a Teach-In on the Boycott Divest and Sanction movement broadly defined. The purpose of the teach- in was to think about the use of economic pressure in supporting the fight for Palestinian Rights. It focused quite a bit on universities and but also frameworks that could be applied to other institutions and in many situations.
