The Westside Collective - Amelia Lopez Lopez and Margarita Martinez-Osorio

  • Summary

  • Colombia’s Peace Committee was created in November 2019 by a group of Colombians at IU Bloomington who wanted to make visible the human rights violations in Colombia, as well as the processes of resistance led by grassroots peace initiatives in the country. This episode focuses on bringing to light some of the causes of the spark of social protest in Colombia during 2021 and how Bloomingtonians can strive to be global citizens. Join our host Christina Elem as she talks to Margarita (PhD student in Latin American History at IUB) and Amelia (PhD student in Ethnomusicology at IUB) about connection locally and globally.
