• S2E4- Matt K: Retired by 29 on Passive(ish) Income
    Apr 26 2023

Welcome to The Shed Talk Podcast.

Matt K. started his real estate journey exactly like everyone else, making 35k a year. If you have been in those shoes, you know that there is little room to pay bills, much less save for real estate. Matt learned about hopping primary homes and was able to buy their first 4 homes at 3.5% down. He had to be creative with finances, spend weeknights/weekends rehabbing homes, and sacrificing short term pleasure. All this paid off by letting him replace his old corporate jobs income off of passive(ish) income from real estate. He has since created a million dollar portfolio in 6 years with 12 doors.

In this episode he shares tips to buy your first and 2nd home, what is holding back most people from starting, and how to look for big wins.

Crypto, Blockchain, and Web3.0 are all terms that are thrown around but rarely understood. This week, an interview with John Locke, a Senior Research Analyst for Messari, shines some clarity on those subjects.

Some questions we answer during this episode. How do tokens incentivize buyers? How do FIAT currencies impact crypto values? How do you put a value on coins? What are the capabilities of open source blockchain? And what is Web3.0?

Before joining Messari, John worked in Equity Derivatives on Wall Street on both the buy and sell side. He studied macroeconomics and markets for almost a decade. Now, John spends time thinking about token design, DeFi protocols, and governance.
