  • "The Shawshank Redemption" is a 1994 film based on a Stephen King novella. It tells the story of a banker, Andy Dufresne, who is sentenced to life in Shawshank State Prison for the murder of his wife and her lover, crimes he maintains he did not commit. While initially struggling with prison life, Andy befriends a seasoned inmate named Red and finds ways to make his incarceration more bearable. Using his financial acumen, he starts managing the finances of the corrupt prison officials, who protect him due to his usefulness. Red who gets paroled after spending 40 years in prison, later joins Andy in Zihuatanejo, fulfilling his promise. The film explores themes of hope, friendship, and redemption against the backdrop of an oppressive prison system.
