  • Episode 83- Miami Hurricanes Get Big Recruits - Spring Practice Update - Jon Gruden Mishap
    Mar 8 2025

The first week of the Miami Hurricanes' Spring Practice is in the books, and Cam and The Beast break it all down.

First, we start with two HUGE recruiting wins the Canes got this week. Jaelan Waters, a DB out of Seffner Armwood, and Ben Congdon, a massive OL out of Ohio, verbally committed this week. The 2026 class is strong so far.

Then it's on to the first week of Spring Practice. We told you before Spring, and we are telling you now, we have heard nothing but strong things about freshman WR Malachi Toney, aka Baby Jesus. Toney was ahead of Ray Ray Joseph in the starting group on Friday. Will Ray Ray have what it takes to fend off Toney and return to the starting group? We shall see. The offense is looking good, even with out CB out there slinging it. The defense is a bit of a work in progress as new DC Corey Hetherman gets to know the players and his staff. But, there is a positive vibe as guys are reportedly enjoying the simpler system and the ability to play multiple positions.

The hiring of Jai Lucas as the Canes' head basketball coach is done, and he will be introduced this week. We'll have more on Lucas and his staff coming up next week.

Finally, The Beast was off-put by something the Canes Football social media team did involving Jon Gruden ( for a reminder on why Jon Gruden is no longer coaching...read here https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/08/sports/football/nfl-demaurice-smith-jon-gruden-racist-comment.html )

  • Episode 82 - The Miami Hurricanes head to the NFL Combine and Jai Lucas Deep Dive
    Feb 27 2025

On this episode of the Real Ones Canes Podcast, Cam and The Beast dive into the Miami Hurricanes that are headed to the NFL combine. What are the expectations for these Canes, not only in Indy, but also at the next level? Will Cam Ward work out? Elijah Arroyo won't work out. Will Xavier Restrepo run fast enough to move up the draft board? All of these questions we tackle.

In segment two, we are joined by David "Dukie" Lang, the Emmy-Award Winning Executive Sports Producer from WPLG/Local 10. David, a proud Duke grad, joined us to talk a little about the Canes getting thumped by Duke and Cooper Flagg, but mainly had some great takes on Duke Assistant Coach Jai Lucas, who is expected to be named the Miami Hurricanes' next basketball coach.

  • Episode 81 - Kevin Beard - Pop Cooney - The Wideouts - Recruiting - Spring Games
    Feb 22 2025

We start the show by talking about the "fodder," (a word Beast had to explain to Cam) regarding Kevin Beard. Is he going to the NFL? Does he have a contract? We tell you what we know. The wideout room, and staff, lost a great one in David "Pop" Cooney, who is off to coach the wideouts at Bowling Green. He had a huge impact on the program.

We update everyone on DB coach Will Harris. His status may be up in the air, but as of now, he's working in the building on San Amaro Drive. We tell you why he left Florida, as word is getting out about conditions behind closed doors in Gainesville.

The dead period is ending and visits are lined up, we update you on a few biggies!

Did Cam Ward take a shot at Xavier Restrepo for not playing in the Bowl Game?

Finally, we talk about why schools cancel their Spring Games. Should Miami do the same? Does it matter?
