Katherine had hints of spirituality throughout her life but didn't fully awaken to this until she walked into her first metaphysical bookstore at the age of 27.  She went from corporate business woman to living in a spiritual community where she lived for the next twenty years.  Listen to how her story unfolds in her own words. 

Katherine Dreyer is founder of ChiLiving and co-author of ChiRunning, ChiWalking and ChiMarathon with her husband and business partner, Danny Dreyer. Although she officially announced her retirement in March 2021, Katherine’s legacy and work will continue.

Over the last thirty years she has combined her career in publishing information about health and fitness with her living study of Eastern philosophy, meditation and mindful practices. She is an author, teacher, speaker and a life and business coach.

Katherine was president of New Hope Communications, the leading communications company for the natural health business, from 1989 – 1995. She helped launch and was vice president of HealthShop.com, a natural health business. Katherine spent the first 10 years of her career in New York, working for top advertising agencies, Time Warner and HBO Video.

In 1999 it was Katherine who convinced Danny that ChiRunning was worthy of their focus and attention. As she says, “As soon as I heard how people were responding to Danny’s classes I knew that it was important that this information get out to more people.”

As co-founders of ChiLiving, Inc., Katherine and Danny have spent the last 20 years writing the ChiWalking and ChiRunning and ChiMarathon books and newsletter, producing DVD’s, the ChiRunning School and teaching Workshops and Instructor Training Courses throughout the country and all over the world. To continue spreading their legacy, five Master ChiRunning Instructors from around the world have stepped up to assume the operations and executive leadership roles to ensure a smooth transition building on the work of the Dreyers. Combined, the team has more than 40 years of ChiRunning/ChiWalking experience.

They continue to live with their daughter, Journey, in Asheville, NC.
