Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of the Performance Psychcast. Today we are very fortunate to be speaking with Dr Michael Passaportis and Dr Dan Brown.
Michael Passportis is a lecturer in sport and exercise psychology at the University of Sussex. He teaches and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students on topics such as stress, coping, motivation, and emotion in sport. He also conducts and publishes research on the psychosocial factors that influence thriving in elite sport organisations.
As a sport and exercise psychologist in training, he provides tailored psychological support to individuals, teams, and organisations who want to reach their full potential and thrive in their sporting pursuits. Drawing on established psychological principles and his personal experiences of elite sport performance, he works collaboratively with clients to improve their understanding of how their psychological functioning affects their performance and well-being.
Dan Brown is a Chartered Psychologist of the British Psychological Society and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Dan joined the University of Portsmouth in 2017. He completed a BSc (Hons) Psychology at the University of Bath, an MSc Psychology of Sport and Exercise at Loughborough University, and received his PhD from the University of Bath.
Dan’s doctoral research focussed on developing an understanding of thriving in humans and the application of this knowledge to sport performers.
Dan’s current research centres on the psychology of human excellence and well-being. Specifically, his work focuses on understanding and facilitating thriving in humans, athlete transitions and developmental experiences, and the development and assessment of interventions used in sport and performance psychology.
