The LGBTQIA+ Relationships on TV That Shaped Us (Mailbag Episode)

  • Summary

  • Unlike major corporations, we DON'T turn away from Pride on July 1st. Happy (slightly belated) Pride everyone. It may technically be July, but during 🏳️‍🌈 June 🏳️‍🌈 we opened the DMs to friends and listeners about your favorite LGBTQIA+ characters and relationships from TV and how they impacted you. Today we talk ‘ship about Queer as Folk, Will and Grace, The Bold Type and more as listeners share their own queer experiences and the good (and bad) representation on TV that affected them. JP Maddock also joins to chat about GLAAD’s recent study that reports LGBTQ representation decreased during the 2020-2021 season for the first time in 5 years.

Much like TV, Talking ‘Ship will take a BRIEF summer hiatus so that we can go out, catch up on some TV, have a little bit of a hot girl summer, but mostly prepare to talk about more couples, more shows, and more ‘ships this Fall. Continue to follow us on IG for updates, to share your TV options, and to let us know who you want us to talk ‘ship about. Have a beautiful, romantic, sexy, cinematic summer full of wistful montages and twilight make-outs... and we’ll see you back here in September.
