    May 15 2022

In this episode, we go back to April 2022 general conference for more inspiration. We chose Elder Renlund's talk from the Women's session which we felt had a wonderful message that we wanted to share. It was a very empowering session for women which we fully support here at The Impeckable Perspective. So much wisdom in this one talk!

The message here is that we all have a divine nature and an eternal destiny. What a cool message! We break down Elder Renlund's key points about having heavenly parents, our divine nature and the amazing fact that we all have heavenly DNA within us, tearing down the fortress around your heart so you can love again, our eternal destiny, and the twin towers of choice and accountability.

  • 028 - How I Met Your Heavenly Mother
    May 14 2022

The concept of a Heavenly Mother is long standing doctrine within the LDS faith, but may be a new concept to other Christian faiths. However, that doesn't mean there is no controversy and cultural influence about our Heavenly Mother. There are truths and myths, largely perpetuated by the culture of our church, about Heavenly Mother and today's episode clears all of that up.

It only make sense that we have a Heavenly Mother for what is bound on earth is bound in Heaven. As there is no way to create life on earth without a mother and a father, the same holds true in Heaven and our pre-earth existence. Every Christian acknowledges God as our Father, so how can we not have a Heavenly Mother as well?

Our Heavenly Mother is a beautiful, amazing, special being, just like all women and mothers on earth. In fact, each earthly woman is patterned after our Mother in Heaven. The concept of heavenly parents is an eternal truth and it is up to you to develop a wonderful relationship with your mother in Heaven. We encourage it!

    Happy Mother's Day!

  • 027 - Spiritual Momentum
    May 14 2022

Fresh off of the April 2022 General Conference, today we draw our inspiration from President Nelson's talk on spiritual momentum. There are 5 specific suggestions he has for creating and maintaining your own personal spiritual momentum, and it is something that everyone can do.

Our favorite suggestion, the first time Luann and I agreed on something :), is recognizing miracles in your life. I talk about the amazing miracle I get to experience every month and how it has changed my faith and spirituality.

  • 026 - God's Training School
    May 14 2022

In this concluding episode in our series on boundaries, we discuss setting boundaries with yourself. Probably the most difficult of all the boundaries because when we set boundaries with ourselves, the responsibility to follow the boundary falls directly on us. Not so easy.

The most common areas in our lives where we struggle with setting personal boundaries is with money, our relationships, our own behavior, food, our time, and even our church callings and activities. When we fail to set healthy boundaries with ourselves, we invite all kinds of problems into our lives that don't need to be there.

  • 025 - Safe Suffering
    May 14 2022

Today's episode tackles boundaries and children. Probably one of the most important episodes in our boundaries series for so many reasons. Setting proper boundaries for our children not only helps them to learn how to set responsible boundaries, it also helps them understand the Atonement.

We discuss the main reasons why kids need boundaries which is the foundation for understanding how to help them set their own. Improper boundaries create rebelliousness in children and severs the connection with them. Ask yourself, are your boundaries with your kids changing as they grow up, or are they remaining the same.

Healthy boundaries are set out of love and not fear, which is not so easy. Fear is the main motivator for setting boundaries within the culture of the church. There is a distinct difference between setting boundaries using discipline and setting boundaries using punishment.

  • 024 - The Rule of Law - Part 2
    May 14 2022

In this episode, we finish discussing the ten laws of boundaries. We cover the following laws:

The law of motivation - setting boundaries out of love, not fear

The law of evaluation - consider what things will look like in 10 minutes, 10 days, and 10 months from now

The law of proactivity - proactive vs reactive boundary setting

The law of envy - an envious mindset feels that the only good things are the things you don't have

The law of activity - God will match our efforts but will never do the work for you

The law of exposure - set boundaries and reveal them to everyone. Don't keep secret boundaries

  • 023 - The Rule of Law - Part 1
    May 14 2022

In this mini-series within a series, we discuss the 10 laws of boundaries. In part 1, we discuss the first four laws: the law of sowing and reaping, the law of power, the law of responsibility, and the law of respect.

Laws are nothing more than boundaries in all aspects of life. When people aren't following these laws, they aren't setting boundaries in their lives. We discuss how the boundaries of God, the Church, and the church culture are woven into these universal laws and how you can set effective boundaries for yourself when you better understand the bigger picture of how these laws apply in your life.
