  • Summary

  • Welcome to The IKAGG Podcast! On this IKAGG Interview episode, Deanna Ley, Founder and CEO of IKAGG (I Know A Guy / Gal) introduces you to Beth Locke, Owner and Occupational Therapist at Quality Independence Therapy. Are you the caregiver of an aging adult and could use some extra help? Do you know an aging adult that would benefit from strength training in order to prevent falls or having a professional help adapt their home so it's safer and easier for them to get around? The goal as we age is to be able to stay in our homes for as long as possible, but sometimes we need someone to show us how to make that happen. Guess what?!? WE KNOW A GAL! Meet Beth Locke. She has been an occupational therapist for twenty years, and her company works with aging adults and offers numerous services to address the following areas: - General strengthening - Fall prevention/fall recovery - Home modification/adaptation - Self-care re-training (bathing, toileting, dressing, etc) - Household task re-training (cooking, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, etc) - Leisure task re-training (gardening, pet care, sewing, golfing, reading, walking… the list never ends!) - Caregiver training - Post-hospital care - Post-stroke care - Neurological Disorder care - Fine motor training Beth comes to her clients’ homes to teach them to perform everyday tasks SAFELY, INDEPENDENTLY, and EFFICIENTLY. Many older adults reduce their participation in these tasks due to falls/fear of falls, fatigue, depression, pain, and/or anxiety. She teaches her clients to overcome these limitations in order to maximize overall QUALITY of life, happiness, and INDEPENDENCE. Beth's services are typically covered financially under her clients' Medicare Part B. If you know of an aging adult who would benefit from what Beth offers, please don't hesitate to get in contact with her. She can help!
