The Hypnosis Sessions with Mark Jones

By: Mark Jones
  • Summary

  • Hypnosis or trance is an incredible way of visualising positive change into your everyday wellbeing routine. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, feeling depressed, a bit lost, need motivation, require focus or simply a ‘pick-me-up’ then these sessions are a powerful way to move forward.

Mark Jones, your reader, is a clinical psychotherapist that has chosen a wonderful selection of general and specific recordings for you to listen to. These sessions are tried and tested in my therapy room and used with sports and business professionals, the general public, chronic pain sufferers and other incredible people I have had the privilege to work with (combined with a structured psychotherapy programme).

If you already practice mindfulness or meditation, use these recordings to generate positive change alongside your normal practice.

Whilst hypnosis can be achieved anywhere, if you are new to this then find a calm space that’s comfortable and free of interruptions. Either a comfy chair, sofa or bed is perfect and if it’s a bit chilly, lay a blanket over you.

The sessions are between 20 and 30 minutes (there is a 5 minute introduction so if you want to get straight to it then fast forward 5 minutes). I don’t recommend more than 1 session a day as the visualisations need to develop and form in your mind. You also need to allow time for actions to form afterwards.

These sessions are delivered to you by myself, a clinical psychotherapist/ hypnotherapist who uses the incredible power of hypnotic trance in my sessions.

Hypnosis is an incredibly powerful tool that we use in psychology to create an alternate reality. It’s important to note that our brains do not know the difference between imagining a situation and actually experiencing it. So, we can exploit this phenomena by getting ourselves into a calm and relaxed state, where we can use the power of positive thought to imagine a better future. In our mind we can try alternative solutions, practice beneficial behaviours and develop ideas, without the limits of reality getting in the way. This allows us to move beyond anxiety, depressive thoughts, fears and other limiting beliefs and behaviours.

Episode 1, this one, is the perfect go-to for general well-being maintenance and housekeeping. Other episodes will focus on confidence, problem solving and other slightly more specific areas of life.

How often you listen is down to you. I am in the fortunate position to experience hypnotic trance several times a day with my own clients however I will listen to a recording in my own company once or twice a week.

Don’t listen to these episodes whilst driving or operating machinery or any task that requires your attention. Find yourself a comfortable chair, sofa or bed (use a blanket to cover yourself if you are likely to get cold or you just like having a blanket, I do) and if in the daytime, set your alarm to not overshoot 30 minutes otherwise you’ll go into a deeper level of sleep which will cut into your night time sleep hours, plus you’ll wake up cranky. If you are listening to this at night time make sure you have your settings on the Podcast app to not play the next episode. You don’t ant to over cook the experience.

Once you have experienced this hypnotic state several times you should be able to do this in a cafe, train or park bench (use headphones though otherwise you might get funny looks). You’ll even be able to do it with lots of noise around.
