  • 162. Resilient Teens with Dr. Siggie
    Oct 23 2024

Parents often refer to Siggie Cohen as the “Child Whisperer” for her unparalleled depth of insight in working with children. For more than 35 years, she has worked intensively with children and families, first as a teacher and then as a child developmental specialist. Her approach has proven successful in helping parents and teachers deepen their understanding of children’s behaviors, so they can support them through the entire range of emotional challenges, including behavioral difficulties, transitions and trauma.

Widely considered an expert in the field, Dr. Siggie lectures and teaches throughout the Los Angeles area. She has written over 50 articles on parenting and been featured in a wide variety of publications. She also has appeared regularly as a baby expert on MTV’s “Rob & Big.”

Due to her own tumultuous childhood, Dr. Siggie became adept at understanding the nuances of feelings and behavior. She developed an incomparable ability to see through children’s external behaviors of defiance, resistance and disengagement, in order to uncover the triggers underlying the behavior. By teaching parents to relate to their child’s inner emotional experiences (rather than only the outward behavior), they are able to develop healthier, more effective responses to their child. With a delicately respectful and kind methodology, Dr. Siggie is able to decode the range of challenges which parents face, and point them towards effective solutions.
