    Our story today, by Pádraig Ó Meiscill, is titled “Requiem for Those About to Live”. 

    Pádraig Ó Meiscill is an unemployed writer from Belfast, Ireland. In an Age of Anxiety, he sends most of his time regulating his breathing and adding to his collection of copper coins. The adequate recording of this story would not have been possible without the collaboration of Shannon Thompson.

    Our music today, by Isnaj Dui, is titled “What Lies Inside”. 

    Standing awkwardly between neo-impressionism and electronica, Isnaj Dui (real name Katie English) conveys a minimal yet capturing sound using electronically manipulated flutes and homemade instruments. 

     

    Cited as a distinct voice, taking the flute away from its pastoral image whilst maintaining its unique mellow sound, English has released several critically acclaimed albums 2009’s Unstable Equilibrium (Home Normal) and Euplexia (Rural Colours). She has appeared at venues such as the National Portrait Gallery and Union Chapel in London and has received extensive play on Radio 3's Late Junction and BBC 6 Music. 

     

    As a classically trained flautist, English has also studied electroacoustic music, alternative tunings and Balinese gamelan. Working without laptop processing, English uses the pure tones of concert and bass flutes alongside homemade dulcimers and electronics to create immersive yet restrained textures that weave in and out of each other. As well as her solo work, Katie plays in littlebow, The Doomed Bird of Providence, The Sly & Unseen, and has collaborated live and on record with many others.

    Our story today, by Ryan Napier, is titled “First as Tragedy”.

    Ryan Napier was born in Plant City, Florida. He has degrees from Stetson University and Yale Divinity School. “First as Tragedy” is one of his Narodistan stories, others of which have appeared recently in Queen Mob’s Tea House and the Carbon Culture Review. He lives in Massachusetts.

    Our music today, by Dave Seidel, is titled “Under the Snow”. 

    Dave Seidel is a composer/performer based in southern New Hampshire who works with electronics in both live-improvised and composed idioms, with an emphasis on long tones and microtonal tunings. His album "~60 Hz" was released in 2014 on the Irritable Hedgehog label. He also has a number of netlabel releases under the name “mysterybear”. His website is http://mysterybear.net.

    Our story today, by Emma Rasmussen, is titled “Life on a Timetable”.

    Emma Rasmussen is a writer of short stories and creative non-fiction, as well as comedy sketches for the screen. She regularly updates her blog, Living in the Over-Analyzed Moment, and is 33.3% of the award-winning, female comedy sketch trio Don’t Shoot The Mermaid. She lives in London and when she isn’t writing, she’s editing music videos or eating too much Greek yoghurt.

    Our music today, by Tristan Louth-Robins, is titled “Red Eyes”.

    Tristan Louth-Robins is an artist based in Adelaide, South Australia, working principally in the medium of sound art. He graduated from the Elder Conservatorium of Music (University of Adelaide) in 2010 with Masters degree in Music, specializing in sound art. Ideas of sound and its signification are key elements in Louth-Robins' work, traversing the space between the visual and aural his sound art is realized through the mediums of recordings, installation and performance. He is interested in sound and its associative implications - including its relationship to objects, technology, urban space, memory and the natural world. Since 2005 Louth-Robins has performed and exhibited work in Australia and internationally as a solo artist, whilst occasionally collaborating with visual artists, musicians and performers.

    An Iowan and author of the novel, Time’s Laughingstocks, Steve Gronert Ellerhoff is a graduate of the Creative Writing M.A. at Lancaster University in England. Recently, he completed a Ph.D. in the School of English at Trinity College, Dublin, focusing on myth in short stories by Ray Bradbury and Kurt Vonnegut. This story opens the collection, Tales from the Internet.

     

    Our music, titled “Adieu” is by Nicholas Horvath. French born in Monte-Carlo, Nicholas Horvath started his musical career in the Academie de Musique Prince Rainer III, where he earned a great gold medal in piano and the Prince Rainer III prize. As a pianist he has won 11 international competitions, earning great prizes in seven of those competitions. His compositions have been performed at festivals worldwide.  Nicholas Horvath is a Steinway Artist.

  • Elaine Ford & Madeleine Cocolas

    Our story, titled The Power Cord, was written by Elaine Ford and is performed by Arthur Boatin and Elaine Ford. 

     

    Elaine Ford’s five novels include Ivory Bright and Monkey Bay. Her story collection The American Wife won the 2007 Michigan Literary Fiction Award and was published by University of Michigan Press. Other work appears in Chariton Review, Iron Horse Literary Review, and Family Chronicle and is forthcoming in Arkansas Review. 

     

    Our music, titled Insomnia, is by Madeleine Cocolas. 

     

    Madeleine Cocolas is an Australian born, Seattle based, classically trained composer and musician.  She holds a Masters of Music Composition and has been commissioned to write music for dance, film and site-specific works for various galleries.
