  • "Previous Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance!"

In this week's episode, we delve into the vital importance of preparation in business, drawing on personal experiences from my career. The saying "Previous Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance" resonates strongly as Charles reflect's on my early rush toward opportunities, often at the expense of thorough preparation. This led to missed chances and valuable lessons learned, which I'll be sharing with you.

I shared my contrasting experiences with two real estate acquisitions: Myles Pearce in South Australia and Wilson Pride in Victoria, each presenting unique challenges. While both companies were reputable, the transition to Century 21 was markedly different. The key takeaway was the empowering impact of preparation and people management during acquisitions, showing you how preparation can be a powerful tool in your leadership arsenal.

With Wilson Pride, I underestimated the complexity of working with multiple partners, leading to a rocky start because many franchisees were unaware of my acquisition until our first meeting. This lack of communication created a negative atmosphere, highlighting the urgent need for effective communication in relationship building.

In contrast, Myles Pearce's owner prepared the franchisees for my arrival. This planning paved the way for a positive reception and allowed me to present our offerings effectively. Myles guided me on sensitive topics, ensuring I approached the meeting with care, which resulted in an engaging and constructive dialogue.

Ultimately, these experiences underscored the significance of strategic planning and relationship management in business. I now advocate for showcasing offerings in presentations while allowing the other party to recognize their value, often by temporarily withholding them. This approach has proven effective in fostering interest and engagement, highlighting the crucial role of these strategies in business.

Join us as we explore these insights and more, emphasizing that taking the time to prepare can make all the difference in achieving success!
