  • The FMLPodcast Episode 4; Stephane II - The Electric Lupulu
    Sep 20 2021

Stephane Lupulu is one of those rare people who makes the people around him better by osmosis. I knew that pretty much as soon as I met him at an IT convention I was covering as a freelance reporter about four years ago. And that chance meeting proved the old adage "there are no small stories, just desperate reporters at random events for the free meals" to be one hundred percent on the money.

You see, I met Stephane during breakfast on the event's second day. Within minutes, I knew I had to write about him. His story was obviously that important. And since it essentially fell into my lap while I was at breakfast...well, it really was the rare confluence of genuine human interest and my desire to do as little labor as possible merging into my work being done for the day before I had finished my first coffee. Needless to say, I love this guy.

It isn't every day you get to kick back and chill and do your part to save a continent. Stephane moved to the US from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) right after high school. He came by himself. No money. No English. But I definitely wouldn't say "no clue."

Stephane knew exactly what he wanted. He had always been passionate about technology. But get this: He took six years worth of computer classes back in Congo BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY COMPUTERS. He and his classmates literally read about computers and learned about them on a completely theoretical level. Every school day. For six years.

Today he is pursuing his master's degree at the University of Texas at Dallas in Business Analytics. The recent UTD graduate is laser focused on developing the skills and connections he will need to help him complete his larger mission: bringing his knowledge back to Africa and helping to create a tech savvy generation of African children.

Yes, he thinks big. And, yes, he has lofty goals. And they are definitely bigger than any one man. But Stephane is also definitely doing a lot more than just about any one man.

    It's a helluva story.

  • Ravenous for Sam Apple; The FMLPodcast Takes a Look at the Cancer-Diet Connection
    Aug 31 2021

This week we go deeeeeeep with Sam Apple, author of Ravenous: Otto Warburg, the Nazis and the Search for the Cancer-Diet Connection. Would it be exaggerating to say Sam and I basically cured cancer by the end of our conversation?

    Yeah, probably.

But we did break down the story of Otto Warburg, a gay, Jewish Nobel Prize winning cancer researcher who worked with Hitler's blessing during the nightmare of the Nazi rise during World War II. In his new book, Sam breathes life into a scientist who had been swept away into the dustbin of history in a way that will hopefully change the way we look at both cancer and what we shove down our pie holes.

Also featuring Mr. Podcasting II doing buck naked karate.

  • TheFMasonLernerPodcast, Episode 2; The Lizardman of Austin ('Nuff said)
    Aug 24 2021

The FMasonLerner Podcast welcomes the Lizardman of Austin!

Saddle up, strap in your seatbelts and adjust your jock/bra straps because the Fuck Mason Lerner Podcast is back in a big, LIZARDY way!

In this episode, first of all, FUCK Mason Lerner! Who does he think he is producing a podcast anyway? What a douche.

Anyway, back to the show...Erik Sprague AKA the Lizardman sat down to expound and get down on the sideshow freak lifestyle. He breaks down all of his extreme piercings and body modifications. He talks about tattoos as performance art and other basic shit like swinging beer kegs with his earlobes.

And the Lizardman is a lot more than just a dude who decided he wanted to quit life and join the circus, though he is for sure that too. He is a walking art exhibit that is the culmination of a young 20 something PHD candidate's philosophical experiment. And he never shuts the fuck up.

So he had a lot to say!
