The Compassionate Life

By: Dr. Brittany King
  • Summary

  • The character qualities I have tried to incorporate into my life have been compassion, humility, kindness, and selflessness. Through various charitable endeavors, I have met incredibly inspiring individuals. This show will focus on leading a compassionate life. We will meet a variety of international humanitarians who only want to share their story and their passion with the world. I have myself come into contact with each of these impressive people via various charitable endeavors I have taken part in over the years. They want to “give back” to this environment and the people and animals in it in any way that they can. Not only will you find each week uplifting, you will also be inspired. It may touch your heart or strike a chord within your soul that enables you to “think outside the box.” I hope that you’ll give back to your own family, community and environment.

At SGU located on Grenada in the West Indies, the students, faculty, and community members are enthusiastically embracing this concept with a sustainable approach to addressing worldwide zoonotic diseases. Many diseases can transmit from animals to humans affecting global health. I launched the very first One Health One Medicine Clinic in Grenada as a veterinary student. These free clinics for the island combined human health care with animal health care and public health information. SGU will offer a One Health, One Medicine online course in honor of the inaugural One Health Day, which will be celebrated worldwide on November 3. The course will cover a wide range of topics, including global health burden, determinants of health, strategies toward promoting health, and applications toward a sustainable approach for the health of humans, animals, and the environment.
