The Art of Rewriting Your Notes

  • Summary

  • Are you struggling to retain the information you hear during your lectures? Are you trying to decide if rewriting your notes is really worth it?

Today I'm going to talk about how to take notes during your lecture so you actually remember the lecture. I'll discuss the difference in recall maximization when comparing hand writing notes versus taking notes on your laptop. And, I'll talk about how to close that gap if you want to continue to take notes on your laptop. Spaced repetition will play a key role in this episode, and I'll also touch very briefly on cognitive schema.

The paper I cover today is from the journal of Contemporary Educational Psychology published in 2018, titled, ''Note-taking and science inquiry in an open-ended learning environment".
