The Apple Seed Presents: The Canterville Ghost by Oscar Wilde

  • Summary

  • Oscar Wilde's classic ghost story The Canterville Ghost from 1887 is about a fearsome ghost named Simon de Canterville who has haunted an ancient English castle and terrified the locals for centuries. However, he is flummoxed by the castle's newest owners: a family of Americans who don't seem to be frightened of him. The story has been adapted into several of movies and TV shows over the years, including a recent Emmy-winning four-part series made by our sister network BYUtv in partnership with the BBC. The new series places the story in modern times, so today on the show we thought it would be fun to go back to Wilde's original text. So sit back and enjoy as host Sam Payne shares the spooky, witty, and ultimately redemptive story.
