The 3 Laws of Performance: Holding the Power of Rewriting Our Future

  • Summary

  • Welcome to the Leadership Rising Podcast! Coach and Guide today, Steve Seay is opening up this discussion around the Three Laws of Performance. Steve is joined by coaches Jim Urban and Rebecca Schleifer to talk about the possibilities around rewriting our future in business and in life.

Coach Steve references the book, "The Three Laws of Performance" by Steve Zaffron and Dave Logan.

1st Law: How people perform correlates to how they perceive the situation

2nd Law: How a situation unfolds arises in the language which gets used

3rd Law: Future-based language transforms how situations occur to people

Listen for this moment: "Do I happen to life or does life happen to me? We call that in psychology Internal Locus of Control or External Locus of Control. If I believe that I have agency, and capability and opportunity to do something - that creates a ton of possibilities for how the situation can be turned around. When you're talking about language - I think it's an intentional boundary for leaders. It's a point of emphasis that we use language about possibilities and about opportunities and about being right on the cusp of achieving that breakthrough."
