CSK vs KKR Match 1 Review | IPL 2022
The most expected IPL 15th edition has started on a decent note, Chennai Super Kings & Kolkata Knight Riders played their first match of IPL 2022 with their two new skippers.
As soon as Shreyas Iyer won the toss, chose to field first and have restricted the defending onto a tough phase right from the beginning. The pitch played a huge role for the CSK batsmen as they struggled to put runs on board and gave away their initial wickets right from the first over. The top-order batsmen could have had a better day than what fans were expected.
Then the most prominent duo, Jadeja and Dhoni were rotating their strikes to each other to build a decent partnership and controlled the fall of wickets of their team. A stage somewhere even 120 would be a tough score for the defending champions to put on board. But, the finisher, MS Dhoni has thrashed the seamers of KKR to score 47 runs from their last 3 overs. Which helped CSK to put up a decent score of 131/5 at the end of 20 Overs.
MS Dhoni especially gave a glimpse of his vintage knock by hitting the slower balls and Yorkers for back-to-back boundaries. Initial fans were in a worry about seeing him scoring 5(12) balls, but later he managed to hit his first fifty of IPL 2022 with 38 balls.
Chasing 132 from 120 balls had been an easy chase for the KKR team. As the due started to begin right from the last five overs of the innings at that time itself KKR would have decided that "We should not go for big shots, let's take it till the end" this would have been their plan for their chasing.
And they have executed it pretty well with the steady start. All was good in the second innings, even Csk bowlers did a decent job and fielders were good at saving boundaries. The only thing they failed was their batting would have been slightly better, at least they would have had those 30 runs of shortage while batting.
A steady and clinical victory for the KKR team on their opening match of IPL 2022. Let's look forward to their upcoming matches as well.
For Chennai, hope Moeen Ali makes his entry soon for a balancing Playing XI for CSK.
KKR cheers for your victory! And
Thala fans! A 50* after two years for MS Dhoni. What else do they want other than this?
