  • Después del testimonio de la primera comunidad apostólica, nos adentramos en las sucesivas generaciones que, fieles a las tradiciones antiguas, reciben en la iglesia a los nuevos cristianos. Desde una ritualidad muy sencilla (s. I y II) llegamos a un ritual completo (s. III). La importancia del paso a la nueva vida no se improvisa y surge entonces un catecumenado verdadero y propio.


    La andadura de la Iglesia en este periodo no está libre de ataques a su doctrina y a su praxis. Los Padres de la Iglesia salen al paso, legándonos una teología mistagógica de gran calado bíblico y espiritual. Sobresalen en esta época nombres como Tertuliano, Cipriano de Cartago, Cirilo de Jerusalén y Agustín de Hipona.
