This is part 1 of a two part bonus episode. In this part we discuss some background information related to Paris is Burning, the environment is was created around and generally important information about queer history that some younger audiences may not be familiar with. This covers some of the origins of Ball culture in the 1960s, the events of the Stonewall riot, and how the HIV/AIDS epidemic devistated the queer community. Some of this may be common knowledge for our older queer and gay folks out there, but it is so important to know that so much of our history is not taught to us and is actively hidden from us. If any information is inaccurate, or if you feel there is missing context that needs to be given about any of the topics that we have discussed in this episode, please feel free to reach out to us on our socials. Can you say "Colonial Genocide"? That's not something that United States has ever been historically or even currently involved with through its own Imperialist actions and those of its allies. Because of that, they are incredibly appalled that is about to happen to a people that we are great friends with. Such great friends that we have never seen them before on the show. This whole episode could have been resolved in about 5 minutes if like two people talked, but the same could be said about a lot of things, especially heterosexual relationship drama.
