Sing Psalms to the Lord

By: Choir of Our Lady of the Rosary
  • Summary

  • We are the Choir of Our Lady of the Rosary in the parish of St. John, on the island of Barbados. Ours is a vibrant and active music ministry and we have created this podcast to focus on the psalms in the Catholic liturgy. Most of the musical settings are original compositions and we feel that they reflect the rhythm and flavour of our Caribbean culture. Our hope is that through this podcast we can share our love of the psalms with a wider global community.

    Cf. Ps 47: 10-11

    Responsorial Psalm 23(24):7-10

    Who is the king of glory? He, the Lord, he is the king of glory.

    O gates, lift high your heads;

    grow higher, ancient doors.

    Let him enter, the king of glory!

    Who is the king of glory? He, the Lord, he is the king of glory.

    Who is the king of glory?

    The Lord, the mighty, the valiant,

    the Lord, the valiant in war.

    Who is the king of glory? He, the Lord, he is the king of glory.

    O gates, lift high your heads;

    grow higher, ancient doors.

    Let him enter, the king of glory!

    Who is the king of glory? He, the Lord, he is the king of glory.

    Who is he, the king of glory?

    He, the Lord of armies,

    he is the king of glory.

    Jan 1 2025

    Cf. Mal 3: 1; 1 Chr 29: 12

    Behold, the Lord, the Mighty One, has come;

    and kingship is in his grasp, and power and dominion.

    Responsorial Psalm 71(72):1-2,7-8,10-13

    All nations shall fall prostrate before You, O Lord.

    O God, give Your judgement to the king,

    All nations shall fall prostrate before You, O Lord.

    and peace till the moon fails.

    The kings of Tarshish and the sea coasts

    Before Him all kings shall fall prostrate,

    all nations shall serve Him.

    All nations shall fall prostrate before You, O Lord.

    For He shall save the poor when they cry

    and the needy who are helpless.

    He will have pity on the weak

    and save the lives of the poor.

    All nations shall fall prostrate before You, O Lord.

    Responsorial Psalm 95(96):1-3,11-13

    Today a saviour has been born to us: He is Christ the Lord.

    O sing a new song to the Lord,

    sing to the Lord all the earth.

    O sing to the Lord, bless His name.

    Today a saviour has been born to us: He is Christ the Lord.

    Proclaim His help day by day,

    tell among the nations His glory

    and His wonders among all the peoples.

    Today a saviour has been born to us: He is Christ the Lord.

    Let the heavens rejoice and earth be glad,

    let the sea and all within it thunder praise,

    let the land and all it bears rejoice,

    all the trees of the wood shout for joy

    at the presence of the Lord for he comes,

    He comes to rule the earth.

    Today a saviour has been born to us: He is Christ the Lord.

    With justice He will rule the world,

    He will judge the peoples with His truth.

    Today a saviour has been born to us: He is Christ the Lord.
