Sh*t, Shower & Self-Care

By: Steve Jones
  • Summary

  • Here at the Sh*t, Shower and Self-Care podcast we're carving out a space for guys to talk about guy stuff. The stuff we might usually step away from.

What does it mean to be a man?

What does mental health mean to men?

How are we able to talk more about the stuff that we might otherwise keep tucked away at the back of our sock drawer?

I'm just a Yorkshire lad who just happens to also be a Clinical Psychologist. I want to make a safe, interesting and inspiring place to explore the impacts of modern life on the mental health of men.

Yes, we're going to talk about some stuff that is difficult. I'll also try to keep it entertaining and occasionally, quite possibly, funny.

    Because YOU matter.

In this episode I am again joined by World Champion Triathlete Gold Medallist Steve Judge.

We continue to talk about his journey to the podium, how it felt to cross the finish line and his transition into sharing his story as a motivational speaker and author.

Steve talks about some of the conversations he's had when people have meant well and the importance of listening to what people want, not what you think they want.

As always, thanks for listening. Please share this episode, comment, like or subscribe - the more people we reach the more we can spread the message that it's ok to talk.

Welcome to Sh*t Shower and Self-Care episode 20!

In this episode I am joined by the truly inspirational Steve Judge. Steve takes us through his journey from a hospital bed, horrendous pain, rehabilitation all the way through to being crowned a World Champion Gold Medallist Triathlete.

Steve discussed his mentality and how he overcame what could be seen as insurmountable challenges in order to get to where he is now.

Now that Steve has retired from professional althletics he now works as a motivational speaker and has given talks across the world sharing his story and supporting others.

Not only does Steve talk about his experiences, he writes about them too.

    Steve has a couple of books;

One is his autobiography detailing his story in far more detail than what we could go into on the pod: https://www.steve-judge.co.uk/dont-lean-on-your-excuses-2/

He has also written about his mentality and how this could be beneficial for others: https://www.steve-judge.co.uk/gold/
