San Antonio Stories - Freeman Coliseum - Salem Media Group

  • Summary

  • San Antonio Stories as heard on Freedom 1160 and 930AM The Answer - Voiced by Sonny Melendrez

Two Texas brothers made their fortune in cotton and cars, but their love for ranching birthed The Bexar County Coliseum.  Another San Antonio Story after this.

The Bexar County Coliseum opened its doors in 1949 for the Greatest Show on Earth  but was built for The Stock Show and Rodeo. Joseph Freeman insisted it not be named after him, but the board prevailed in 1958.  The final name change came in 1985, a year after Harold’s death. Millions of memories still being made at the Joe and Harry Freeman Coliseum.  I’m Sonny Melendrez.
