Hurricane Helene came in with a vengeance and ravaged our beloved mountain communities of Western North Carolina on September 29th, 2024. Many lost homes, property, some lost lives and loved ones, many were without power for weeks and still some parts of my area are without clean drinking water. These are unprecedented times at least for our generations living today. This past month has been like nothing I've ever seen. Through it all, I continue to be reminded that even amidst many who I've shared with and talked to going through their own personal and collective challenges the past several weeks, there is a song of hope, resilience, and trust singing to us underneath it all.
