Rise, Reclaim and Step Out After Divorce | Christian, Divorce, Encouragement

By: Dana L Williams Author Podcast Host Founder of Redeemed-Identity Ministries
  • Summary

  • Are you tired of feeling like you can’t be used by God because you are divorced? Have you set aside your ministry dreams because of your divorce? Have you ever felt judged by the body of Christ because you are divorced? Hi, I’m Dana. Like you or someone you care about, I am a divorced Christian. As a former ministry leader and pastor’s wife, I faced misguided judgment, criticism, and misinformed opinions (often based on faulty theology) within the church. After enduring years of judgment and shame, I chose to spiritually fall asleep. Nearly a decade later, I woke up to the realization that my identity hadn’t changed because of divorce. God’s call on my life remained unchanged. I discovered that the same is true for you. Whether in ministry or the marketplace, your divine calling persists despite divorce. In this podcast you will find encouragement to walk free from judgements from yourself or others, and reclaim your identity. My mission (and I’ve chosen to accept it) is to equip Christian divorced and divorced leadership in the church to rise up, reclaim, and step out into the ministry God place on their heart. If you are ready to say yes to redeeming your life and call - you are in the right place. Join me on a journey to re-remember who and whose you are and reclaim what He has called you to do. I want to hear your story! Dana@redeemed-Identity.com

Peggy, with over 51 years of marriage, and the wisdom of being a mom of two and a grandmother of two, returns to further unpack the complex topic of abuse in marriage.

In this episode, we focus on two important and often misunderstood aspects of marital abuse:

    - Spiritual Abuse: The misuse of religion, faith, or spiritual authority to manipulate or control a spouse.

    - Sexual Abuse within Marriage: Addressing non-consensual sexual experiences and violations within the context of marriage.

Peggy shares her professional insights and offers practical advice on recognizing these behaviors and beginning the process of healing. Through our conversation, we hope to shine a light on the nuanced forms of abuse and empower listeners to rise and reclaim their lives after divorce.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode:

    1. What constitutes spiritual abuse in a marriage and how it manifests.
    2. Understanding sexual abuse within marriage and the importance of recognizing boundaries, even in intimate relationships.
    3. Signs to look out for if you suspect you or someone you know is experiencing these forms of abuse.

With over 51 years of marriage experience, Peggy brings a wealth of knowledge as both a therapist and a wife, mom of two, and grandma of two.

This episode kicks off a powerful series where we break down the different forms of abuse—starting today with emotional and financial abuse. We also dive into the concept of gaslighting, a manipulative tactic often linked to emotional abuse. I get candid about my personal experiences, sharing how I coped with childhood sexual abuse and how I survived through the most challenging times of my life.
