  • Summary

  • In the current media coverage of the NRL, everybody seems to be too afraid to call a spade a spade. The ex-players and media personalities hosting these shows are too close to the inner circle to be objective about rugby league and discuss in detail what’s going right and what's going oh so wrong in our game week to week. As for us here at Rippin’ In - well, we aren’t a part of the NRL fraternity. And we don’t want to be. We call it as we see it - no team, player or issue has immunity from this podcast. If a team isn’t performing to expectation, a player is going unsung for his team’s success or the very game itself is broken - we’ll be covering it. We record and post a new episode weekly, covering the previous round's results, the upcoming round and discuss the biggest issues affecting rugby league. If you’re looking for a no holds barred, in-depth analysis of the NRL and rugby league in general, with extensive coverage of every single team in each weekly episode - the Rippin’ In podcast is for you!

  • RD 19 REVIEWS + RD 20 PREVIEWS | A round of saucy match ups
    Jul 29 2021

There were (almost) some major upsets in Round 19, but ultimately the Cowboys and Broncos fell short, while the Storm and Panthers roll on at the pinnacle of the league.

The Raiders managed to hold on against the Eels in one of the best matches this season. Defence was the showpiece of the evening, producing the first 0-0 halftime scoreline in almost 3 seasons, while some controversial calls both helped and hindered the Eels in the match.

In Round 20, we've finally got the match we've all been waiting for - the likely GRAND FINAL PREVIEW in the Melbourne Storm v Penrith Panthers. Meanwhile, the Eels and Roosters fight for a top four berth and the Raiders and Knights for a top eight spot!

  • ORIGIN GAME III REVIEW | RD 18 REVIEWS | RD 19 PREVIEWS | Broncos robbed?
    Jul 20 2021

WERE THE BRONCOS ROBBED? OR WAS IT JUST DESSERTS FOR AN ABYSMAL SECOND HALF SHOWING 🤔

First of all, the good news. We had another week of minimal shellackings. That is always a good time.

The even better news - the Raiders managed to string together back to back wins off the back of 21 offloads and 270m+ from star rookie Xavier Savage.

In this episode, we review the QLD MAROONS victory from Wednesday night, where against all odds they managed to deny the Blues a clean sweep. Then, we discuss the round that was (including a very contentious call in the Broncos v Tigers game), and the realistic prospects of the Bottom 8 teams. With almost every team mathematically a chance, we take a look at the final 7 games of the season and who we think is a write off and who is rising.

  • RD 17 REVIEWS | RD 18 PREVIEWS | ORIGIN GAME III PREVIEW
    Jul 14 2021

Round 17 turned in some surprise contests! Of course it would, right after we spent 40 minutes blasting the NRL gamemakers for the trite it had become and the weekly blowouts 🤷‍♂️

In this episode, we review some of those close contests, including the Bulldogs v Roosters and Sharks v Warriors, as well as the upset victory by the mighty Green Machine!

Then, we turn our attention to Round 18 AND Game III of the State of Origin Series. Can the Maroons avoid a clean sweep? Only one of us keeps the faith!
