Rappers Over Thirty

By: Steven Laws
  • Summary

  • The Rappers Over Thirty (R.O.T) podcast is a supportive, motivational rap podcast for hip hop underground artists over thirty. It features music interviews, hip hop album reviews, healthy hip hop living, fanbase building, rap music business networking, and an underground hip hop radio station that plays new rap songs. "Rap is a young man’s game" is a conspiracy that falls in line with the "Willie Lynch Letters" - Imp The Great Rap is a multitude of things that fall under the edutainment category. A younger rapper may be able to dance and perhaps look better, but the older rapper will be able to deliver messages the younger rapper can't because of lack of experience and certain wisdoms. (R.O.T.) is open for healthy discussions with those who agree or disagree with the "Rap is a young man’s game" philosophy. Imp The Great hosts the rap podcast (R.O.T). He's an older rapper that refused to stop rapping. This YouTube channel hosts (R.O.T) videos as well as Imp's artistic endeavors.

  • ROT 023 Thinking Outside the Box with C.V.E's NgaFsh
    Apr 30 2021
NgaFsh is a member of the “Chillin Villain Empire” (C.V.E) and the “Dynamic Duo” with his son “DJ NoWords”. He initially started rapping with “MC Spend” a rapper who would later become known as the “Bitch Better Have My Money” rapper “A.M.G”. NgaFsh has been producing underground albums for years, toured the states and other parts of the world. As a member of “C.V.E” he and his label mates secured a quarter million dollar record deal which was quite unique whereas they kept creative control of their music and merchandise and would have all of their masters returned to them within a couple of years.  In this episode I play music which features NgaFsh, DJ NoWords, Rifleman, Riddlore, and Imperator. We discuss current events, healthy habits, mental health, his dealing with gangs while being bussed to school from South Central Los Angeles to Venice, the “Good Life” and “Project Blowed” open mic venues, his thinking outside the box and non-industry approach to making music. • ROT 022 History Community & Politics with the first West Coast female DJ Silky D
    Apr 23 2021
In this episode: I play multiple songs by my son “Creepy Fingers” and ask the question “What happened to his career?” I also play a dope song called “Yah Gone Hear Me” by “Roc Box”. My special guest interview is with the Los Angeles native and a music industry original “DJ Silky D”. She broke barriers and laid the groundwork in the streets, clubs and on the airwaves of Los Angeles for all aspiring female DJ's. She was the only female DJ welcomed by legendary West Coast party crew "Uncle Jams Army" and the first female radio mixmaster for KJLH & KDAY who announced her as the worlds first female DJ. “Silky D” provided her sexy voice for the unforgettable background noises for the 80's classics "Dial a Freak" and "808 Beats" by Egyptian Lover. She’s worked with numerous legendary music and film professionals, and went on to become a sound and stage manager, musical director, public speaker, casting assistant and PA for the “Black Stunt Men Association”,  She’s worked with “Operation Skid Row” an organization which provides survival and living needs to the homeless and she’s received many awards as a pioneer in Hip Hop and as an Educator and for her work with the “Los Angeles Unified School District”. During our conversation we discussed the South Central Black Panthers, The Brown Berets, Uncle James Army, RadioTron, Impact Record Pool, Roger Clayton, G Bone, Alonzo, Jazzy Joyce, George Floyd, and the details about her being kidnapped, raped and robbed.
