    The title of the first female rapper is a matter of debate, but MC Sha-Rock 🔥🔥💙. She is often credited as the first female rapper or emcee. She got her start as a member of The Funky 4+1 . The first female rapper to win a Grammy was Queen Latifah. She won the award for Best Rap Solo Performance with her song “U.N.I.T.Y.” at the 37th Grammy Awards in 1995 Salt-N-Pepa also won a Grammy that year for Best Performance by a Duo or Group with “None of Your Business”. MC Lyte: She was the first solo rapper to release her own full-length album, “Lyte As A Rock,” in 1988. Her flow, lyrical precision, and refusal to self-censor gained her industry attention quickly. She was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Single in 1993 for her song “Ruffneck” . At 14 years old Roxanne Shantae’ released her debut single “Roxanne’s Revenge” in 1984. The song became an instant classic and helped establish her as one of the most promising young talents in hip-hop. Monie Love British rapper gained popularity in the late 80s and early 90s with her debut album “Down to Earth” was released in 1990 and included her hit single “Monie in the Middle” Women of the 80’s were influential in the conscious rap and HipHop style we know today. Great lyrics with meaningful content Artist like Sister Souljah. Some of these artist helped give birth to the Native tongue collective.
