  • In un testo in greco antico del II secolo dopo Cristo, scritto da Pausania il Periegeta, si narra una storia il cui protagonista è un leggendario pugile: Eutimo di Locri. Pugile nativo dell’Italia del sud, allora colonizzata dai greci: ovvero, la gloriosa Magna Grecia. Un pugile davvero leggendario, poiché non si limitò ad affrontare avversari “normali” alle olimpiadi antiche (di cui fu campione per ben 3 volte), ma nel corso della sua carriera poté fregiarsi d’aver lottato pure contro un demone. Perché Eutimo era un pugile, sì, ma soprattutto era un eroe.
