Prof Steven Prawer – The problem is that our opponents have been building up a false narrative

  • Summary

  • Maurice Klein speaks with Prof Steven Prawer, Professor of Physics at the University of Melbourne who oversees a joint PhD programs between the University of Melbourne and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Professor Prawer recently arrived at his university office to find that it had been invaded and occupied by pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel students in a most threatening manner. The students were concealing and covering their identity with keffiyehs - the modern day Swastikas. Professor Prawer, who is a proud kippah wearing Jew found himself in the confronting situation and refused to be intimidated, stood his ground and stood proud. He recently addressed the Senate Commission of Inquiry into antisemitism. Professor Prawer advocates for the Government to pass legislation for a Judicial inquiry into antisemitism and for universities to be given additional powers to deal with antisemitism which is now well and truly plaguing our educational institutions and needs to be urgently addressed head on. The interview appropriately concludes with Kyle Kozloff and Neil Radisch performing their parody “A Letter from Campus” with apologies to Allan Sherman.
