We live and work in a busy world in which there is little time to read, watch or listen beyond the headlines.

Hello, my name is Iain Campbell-McKenna, and this is “Procurement in 5-minutes.” That’s right, in 5-minutes I promise to tackle some of the biggest challenges and deepest questions our profession and industry face on a day-to-day basis.

In today’s procurement in 5 minutes, I am thrilled to be joined by Dave Jones, the Head of Procurement for IT and digital at Virgin Media O2.

Dave has been working in procurement for over a decade and has firsthand experience with the common issues that many job candidates face today, AI Bias. While AI is certainly a game-changer in many industries, it's not helping candidates find new roles. Almost 90% of employers use filters or ranking systems in their recruitment systems to select potential candidates, and these systems are hindering our recruitment efforts. Even when a candidate meets all the requirements, they are overlooked due to keyword mismatches.

Dave highlights this ongoing problem and is the perfect person to answer the question:

In today’s Procurement in 5 minutes, I am thrilled to be joined by Robert Semethy, the CPO at Erste Group Bank.

Robert has been in procurement for over three decades and believes that training is vital to procurement’s growth. But, despite the importance of skills development in procurement, there has been a substantial and long-term decline in the volume of employers that regularly train their teams. Robert highlights this on-going problem and is the perfect person to answer the question:

In today’s special extended edition of Procurement in 5 minutes, we have a treat for
you. Joining us is Rebecca Lonsdale, the CPO at Castrol, BP.

Rebecca has over 20 years of experience working in procurement and she believes that
procurement plays a crucial role in driving the growth of every business. She thinks that
procurement should lead the way in innovation, act as disruptors, and foster stronger
internal partnerships. According to her, the key is to do things differently rather than
becoming obstacles to innovation, making her the perfect person to answer the burning
question: Is procurement a blocker or a facilitator?
