  • 7月7日は七夕。旧暦で考える伝統的な七夕の日は今年、8月10日にあたります。


    水星が7月22日に東方最大離角となり、中旬～下旬に日没後の西空で観察チャンスです。高度が低いので、よく開けたところで探しましょう。


    北の空には、こぐま座を取り巻くように長い体をもった「りゅう座」が伸びています。α星トゥバンは5千年ほど前の時代には北極星の役割を担っていました。地球の地軸が首振りをすることで天の北極の位置が移ろうことを歳差（さいさ）といいます。1万2千年ほどたつと、ベガが北極星に。このころには北緯35度付近でもみなみじゅうじ座が見えるようになっているはずです。長い時間をかけて変化していく星空を想像してみては。
