Piyutim for Yamim Tovim

By: JewishPodcasts.fm
  • Summary

  • Piyutim are liturgical poems written by some of the greatest poets and leading Talmidei Chachamim in our history. Unfortunately, they are written in a very abstruse and complex language using references to midrashim, pesukim, and events in Jewish history which may be difficult to fathom. These shiurim are text-based and will take the listener on a journey through the sources and deeper meanings of the piyut. The shiur will also point out poetic devices such as rhyme, meter, homonyms, onomatopaeia, which the paytan used.
