She has carried out research on homicides, gangs and recidivism of ex-prisoners. She has also conducted a public opinion survey on crime; juvenile deliquency and fear of crime. Kim is part lecturer in Criminology at the The University of the West Indies where she had been teaching for close to 20 years.
