. **Identify the Source:** Determine the origin of the leak – whether it's a burst pipe, roof damage, or another issue.

    • sometime obvious
    • other times you may need to hire a professional

    2. **Turn Off Water:** Locate and shut off the main water supply to prevent further damage.

    • this is good to know for a variety of reasons…earthquake, leak, repairs

    3. **Document the Damage:** Take photos or videos of the affected areas for insurance purposes.

    • This is BEFORE and DURING the repairs.
    • Keep all receipts starting from this point and forward for your insurance for claim purposes and reimbursements.

    4. **Call Professionals:** Contact a plumber or relevant professionals to assess and fix the issue.

    5. **Mitigate Water Damage:** Use towels, buckets, or a wet-dry vacuum to minimize water damage until help arrives.

    • This can be tough depending on where the leak is…so only option might be turning off the water.
