OTFC Podcast Ep. 10: East Palestine Ohio Chemical Catastrophe

  • Summary

  • In this podcast episode, we discuss the ecologically catastrophic chemical incident that occurred in East Palestine, OH, on February 3, 2023. The mainstream media took days to cover the story, all while residents were left in the dark. Within hours of the train derailment and subsequent chemical fire, local animals started dying, and people developed headaches (among other ailments).

We talk about the ecological damage of the disaster, the ineptitude of Norfolk Southern, the lack of care from Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, and the future outlook of people in the area.

Later in the show, we briefly discuss the chicken shortages throughout the country, the rising prices of eggs, and what people can do. Additionally, we give a couple of resilience activities to focus on as spring approaches.

*Apologies for the beginning when CM kept saying Palestine, Ohio, instead of East Palestine, Ohio.
