    Nora compares her identity - an unmarried, childless woman in her thirties - to her mother’s, who has long since passed. Despite her loneliness, Nora refuses to marry without love. Her childhood friend Diana is revealed to be the only other person Nora has loved, but their life paths have since diverged.
