Welcome to the premiere episode of Embracing Neurodiversity, a podcast dedicated to empowering parents navigating the world of neurodiversity. Our mission is to support and uplift families raising neurodiverse children. In today’s episode, we’ll introduce ourselves, share our personal experiences, and explore the inspiration behind this podcast and our website.
I’m your host JC, and I work with my wife Darlene, and our daughter Andrea. Together, we have firsthand experience raising neurodiverse children. Andrea is a mother of three, with two boys who have high-functioning autism and ADHD, and a daughter with ADHD. We’ve seen her tackle the unique challenges of parenting neurodiverse children while fostering their individual strengths and sidestepping labels.
As seasoned parents who have raised three children of our own, Darlene and I recognize the need for support and guidance among families facing similar challenges. We understand the struggles many parents encounter and, after thoughtful deliberation, created this podcast and website to provide a supportive community for neurodiverse families.
Our initial podcast series will concentrate on autism, with plans to explore other neurodiverse conditions in the future. We want to emphasize that we are not medical professionals; please direct any medical questions to your pediatrician or general practitioner. Our insights, advice, and information stem from personal experiences and thorough research. We believe that each child’s journey is unique, so what works for one may not work for another.
In this spirit, we’ve collaborated with fellow parents who have generously shared their strategies and successes. To protect their privacy and that of their children, we’ve changed their voices and names, as well as the names of their children, as per their request.
Just a quick comment on our website – currently it is still being developed so what you see today will no doubt change as we grow our audience. We will be creating an opportunity for you to sign up for our mailing list, but we have to put more thought into this as we want to make sure everything we do is done tastefully and beneficial to you our listeners.
Our plan at this point is to create audiobooks, projects, and video projects to aid in helping parents and caregivers. We want to eventually launch a clothing line but that is yet to be determined. I tell you all this to be transparent and hopefully have you come back and be part of the community we are building to increase awareness about Neuro Diverse Children.
Thank you for tuning in. We hope our podcast offers valuable support and guidance for those embracing the journey of parenting neurodiverse children.
