  • The nārāyaṇīyam, of Melpattur Narayana Bhattathiri (1560-1646), is a condensed version of the Bhagavata Purana. It has 1034 verses, divided into one hundred dashakams, or chapters. It is a work of high literary and spiritual merit. It one of the most popular religious texts in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The author was a prominent member of the Kerala School of Astronomy and Mathematics.
