My children had to wait until they were grown up to get to know their mum

  • Summary

  • Imagine living almost 50 years feeling like you weren’t really living. That was Kay’s reality. Depression took over, shaping every decision, every relationship and leading to two divorces and a version of herself that even she didn’t recognise.

In this episode, Kay gets real about what it’s like to lose yourself for decades, only to finally reclaim your life when you least expect it.

She shares how she found the love she always deserved, the strength she never knew she had, and why her children had to wait until they were adults to truly get to know their mum.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re stuck in a life that doesn’t feel like your own, this one’s for you. Because no matter how long you’ve been lost, you can always find your way back.

Now, grab a cuppa, relax and press play.

    About Kay

I’m Kay, a wife for almost 36 years, a mother of two grown up children and two fur babies.

I also have two grandchildren the eldest of which has autism and ADHD as well as a couple of sensory issues.

I moved to Wales almost 22 years ago and after a bit of a rocky start worked for Carmarthenshire County Council for 10 years.

I retired from my 9-5 job 10 years ago and started my own business about 11 years ago, although I had read Tarot Cards at Wellbeing events long before that.

I used to be called Kay Downie - The Soul Mechanic but these days I trade as Kay Downie.
