Music & Fitness - Erin Ross

  • Summary

  • #021 - This week we talk to Erin Ross. Erin teaches orchestra in Springfield, Missouri. When the pandemic hit, all teachers had it rough. I think music teachers had it particularly rough. Not only is it just not possible to be as effective as you were in person, Erin had no way to provide the group environment that is so much a part of being a musician. She has struggled this year with the loss of being able to instill in her students what it means to be a part of something bigger than themselves. And, with trying to keep them motivated when there is no culminating concert at the end of the year.

In this episode we talk about what it’s been like to return to the classroom and the challenges that came with a hybrid schedule when the first returned. Erin is optimistic about what the future holds and is looking forward to the rest of this school year and into the next.

Like so many teachers today, Erin has her side hustle. Not only does she keep private music students, she is also a fitness coach with a wonderful online presence.
