Holy Pinto’s original song Billboard is a deeply reflective track about the inescapable nature of self—wherever we go, we take our thoughts, emotions, and burdens with us. Whether you’re in Milwaukee, Antarctica, or anywhere in between, you can’t outrun who you are. Originally a piano ballad, this stripped-down acoustic version brings out the raw emotion and lyrical depth that makes Holy Pinto’s music so unique.

Born in Canterbury, England, and now calling Milwaukee home, Holy Pinto is the musical project of indie songwriter Aymen Saleh. With influences spanning indie pop-alternative, punk, and pop, his storytelling and heartfelt melodies create a sound that resonates across genres.

"Milwaukee" captures the feeling of drifting into a place and, before you know it, realizing you’ve put down roots. When I first came here, I wasn’t sure I was moving—I just kept coming back. And one night, after a week of going out, after a Father John Misty show, I finally stayed in. It felt strange, even guilty, to sit still. That moment inspired the song’s refrain: I’m not out tonight.

It became more than just a song about one night—it was about settling into Milwaukee, about realizing this place had become home. By the end of the song, there’s that lingering thought: I could be back in London, I could be back in England... but I’m here. And there’s something real in that. It’s a song I still love playing because it reminds me of how I got here.

"If the Sun" is a poignant song about love, loss, and remembrance. Inspired by the simple yet powerful idea, "If the sun comes up this morning, I still love you," the song captures the emotional depth of honoring someone who’s no longer part of your life, through vivid imagery and a rhythmic flow that reflects the beauty of enduring love.

"Beauty" came to me during a time of deep meditation, following an ego death—a moment when everything fell away, leaving me face to face with the parts of myself I didn’t want to see. The only way through was meditation, and in one of these sessions, I had an encounter with source, a feminine, radiant presence that filled me with warmth and comfort. She told me, "You are beauty. You were made this way. This world is yours—live in it, play in it, experience it without shame or judgment."

That moment of peace and acceptance inspired the song, with guitar parts influenced by "White Horse" by Taylor Swift. Even now, when I perform "Beauty", it grounds me and reminds me of that healing presence. My hope is that it brings the same peace to anyone who listens.

  • Rhythm Cafe | VOL41 - Ice | Mie
    Mar 14 2025

"Ice" captures the emotional walls we put up after heartbreak. After leaving a long-term relationship, I found myself hesitant to trust, afraid of being hurt again—especially by those who once swore they wouldn’t. So, I’d rather pull away, stay independent, and keep my guard up than risk vulnerability.

The title plays on "Ice, ice, baby," but it also reflects the paradox of emotional self-preservation: Am I protecting myself, or am I freezing myself out? Because ice can burn, too—and loneliness, like the cold, can start to hurt if you let it linger too long. The song wrestles with that tension, questioning whether shutting people out is truly the safest choice or just another way of getting hurt.
